DPR defence ministry: Ukrainian troops use heavy artillery in shelling of Donetsk airport

Ukrainian troops used heavy artillery while shelling Donetsk airport, Eduard Basurin, spokesman for the Defence Ministry of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said on Sunday.

"Ukrainian armed forces used heavy artillery of 152 mm caliber in the area of Donetsk airport. The areas of Shirokino and Gorlovka were shelled from tanks and 120mm and 82 mm caliber mortars," Donetsk News Agency quoted him saying.

Basurin said that over the past 24 hours DPR Defence Ministry had registered 27 episodes of ceasefire violations by the Ukrainian side.

"One DPR serviceman is reported killed and one more wounded," he said.

Ceasefire in eastern Ukraine is one of the key provisions of the Minsk agreements on the Ukrainian settlement. Other provisions include heavy weaponry withdrawal, prisoner exchange, local elections in Donbass and a constitutional reform in Ukraine.
