MUST READ: the SDF militants handed first batch of villages in Aleppo to the Russian special troops (PHOTOs)
On Wednesday, the Syrian Government forces officially took control of a dozen villages in the western Manbij countryside, following a Russian-brokered deal.
While militants loyal to the Manbij Military Council left that area and departed to Manbij, the Syrian Army units entered SDF-held territory.
They were accompanied by the Russian special forces and military police whose task was to prevent clashes between different sides in this area. In fact, the Syrian Arab Army gained full control over the villages of Kur Huyuk, Kurt Wayran, Al-Bughaz, Abu Hayj and Jubb Al-Hamra.
The Manbij Military Council, which is included as a component of the Syrian Democratic Forces, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday evening.
