Russian parliament denied rumours concerning Assad's evacuation from Damascus | Русская весна

The coordinator of State Duma (Russian parliament – edit.) group on relations with the parliament of Syria, Dmitry Sablin, denied rumors that the president of the SAR Bashar Assad and his family left the country.

Earlier, several Middle Eastern media reported that on the morning of April 11, Bashar Assad allegedly left the presidential palace accompanied by a military convoy, after which he was evacuated to Tehran.

"Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus. We plan to meet with him, discuss the situation and support the people of Syria in his fight against terrorism, "Sablin told “Russian Spring”.

He added that he had repeatedly met with Assad, "including in 2014, when the situation in Syria was significantly worse."

"And then Assad said he would never leave Syria and share the destiny of his people," Sablin said, adding that "the Assad family are now also in Damascus along with the people of Syria."
