Ukrainian authorities intend to shut down 46 mines by 2017 in Donbass

Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine declared the intention to close 46 mines in Donbass by 2017. This was announced at a session of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council by director of the department of labor and employment Natalia Zinkevich.

According to her, this measure comes as a part of the program aimed to create jobs and stabilize labor market. «We plan to close 46 mines, they will be closed or mothballed,« — said Zinkevich.

As a result of the restructuring of the coal industry 22 thousand miners will lose their jobs.
