Igor Strelkov: prisoners exchanged, troops fire at distant check points | Русская весна

A brief commentary from Igor Strelkov on today’s events.

Today came unconfirmed news that Pavel Gubarev, one of the leaders of standoff in East Ukraine, deputy mayor of Slavyansk Igor Perepechayenko and another prisoner whose identity remained undisclosed were freed as a result of prisoner exchange. Igor Strelkov acknowledged the fact in a brief interview: “ Yes, I have just returned after the exchange procedure. We have let Alpha fighters go and I hope without hard feelings. From my side I have made every effort not to make the imprisonment humiliating for them but without playing a good fairy, you know what I mean, it’s war after all.” He also briefed on the present course of events in Slavyansk: “There are no signs of attack yet. Blockaders have engaged smoke bombs, targeting mostly check points beyond residential area. At night they started chaotic shooting near Karachun, which is quite expected from inexperienced fighters who see terrorists behind every bush, especially on a foggy night like this”.
