Izvarino under enemy onslaught (video)

Heavy fighting continued from Thursday through the night at the ​border checkpoint Izvarino. The Ukrainian side again claimed to have gained full control over it, which however remained wishful thinking.

«I was on the border this morning, at the transit point Izvarino — Donetsk," the correspondent Nicholas Khizhnyak reported.

«In the morning it was opened and remained opened till dinner time. Then about 6 pm, it was shut down, when fighting started. That is, the Ukrainian military attempted to storm the post Izvarino again, but failed.

Fights were going on almost all night, I woke up about 5–6 am in the center of Donetsk (Rostov region, Russia) because of the thundering sounds of shelling. Within an hour I was at the post, it was still closed, but being a journalist, Russian security officers let me pass. There were no shots anymore, only houses were burning (several residential buildings were hit by explosions). At noon the post was already open, and people began to leave the village.
