Novorossia let go of 330 Ukrainian prisoners, 75 wounded and give bodies of 35 dead to the relatives

Over the past week the army DNR has achieved considerable success at the front: they occupied the main strategic points, captured few dozens of heavy equipment from Ukrainians and took several hundred soldiers prisoners. Currently 330 military, 72 wounded and 35 dead bodies were handed over to Ukrainian representatives. Basically these are the soldiers who were surrounded by Donbass defense forces in Ilovaisk, Donetsk region.

Novorossiya fighters have been known for fairly good treatment they gave to prisoners of war. However, the decision to open the humanitarian corridor for the surrounded soldiers of Ukrainian Army forces was taken after the appeal of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, August 29. The Russian leader called " to avoid senseless slaughter and provide them [Ukrainians] with the opportunity to freely withdraw from the area of ​​operations, to reunite with their families, to return to their mothers, wives and children, to provide urgent medical aid to the wounded in military operations." The only condition for this which was voiced, is complete disarmament.

Later at a press conference held in Kiev at UNIAN agency the head of the Center for the exchange of prisoners Vladimir Ruban stated that almost 700 Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoners, 80% of them after Ilovaysk fighting. Vladimir Ruban called these figures catastrophic.
