Great Britain wages «propaganda war» in Syria — investigation (PHOTOS)
It is well-known that the Western countries, first of all the USA and Great Britain use their resources to establish loyal political regimes in the Middle East. A whole range of instruments which hardly can be called legit are employed.
After Washington and its European satellites “had brought democracy” to Iraq and Libya Syrian Arab Republic became their next object of attention. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad turned out to be a hard nut to crack, he held on to his people’s interests and did not yield to demands of other counries of the region.
What happened in Syria between 2000 and 2010
Back to 2000 America’s closest ally Qatar offered its neighbours to construct 1.5 thousand km long gas pipeline (which would cost 10 bln dollars). The pipeline would go through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey.
However Syria did not agree to pipeline construction offer. Qatar’s offer has long been discussed but in 2011 another project was launched: June 27 2011 Teheran, Baghdad and Damascus signed agreement on gas pipeline construction to transport Iranian gas to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Western European countries.
This was certainly inacceptable neither for Qatar nor for Saudi Arabia, Turkey and partner from across-the-ocean.
And by an odd coinsidence 2011 was the beginning of active “Arab spring” protests in Syria which were evidently inspired from abroad.
Then West went on fostering political instability in Syrian society which basically was an impulse for civil war having simultaneously created welcoming nvironment for international terror groups enabling them to seize large areas in Syria.
Only Russian Air Force’s operation in Syria launched September 30 2015 after the official request of the legit government helped to tuen the tide in the cuontry and fling back ISIS* and Jabhat an-Nusra* terrorists from their positions.
February 27 2016 ceasefire regime came n force in SAR
Double standards and West’s secret plans
However West keeps on helping Syrian “moderate opposistion” despite all the words and declarations of peace. What West calls “moderate opposistion” turns out to be a bunch of armed thugs ready to kill both Assad’s soldiers and Syrian civilians.
But it turns out that comprehensive assistance to the Syrian opposition factions is rendered not only by the American advisors but also by the British. Still Londind prefers to conceal its role though the facts are speaking louder and louder as the details of such assisitance keep leaking to media
In the beginning of May 2016 the influential British edition The Guardian published an article revealing London’s true intentions regarding Syria.
The aticle’s headline reads “How Britain funds the ‘propaganda war’ agaisnt ISIS in Syria “. But in fact it dissects more complicated problem — secret aid lent by Britain to the Syrian opposition, for example organizing its press-centre activity and creating positive image of those who fight against Assad’s regime (Bitish taxpayers’ money is spent to that).
Guardian’s article says that “information war” against ISIS is aimed not so much at не столько на борьбу с привлекательностью «халифата» в глазах радикальных исламистов по всему миру (в том числе, и в Европе), as at “promoting” Syrian opposition factions.
After London had failed to force military operation in Syria into action in 2013 the British decided to focus onto affecting Syrian conflict outcome by informational means.
The Guardian journalists tell that the British government spends 2.4 mln pounds on «private contractors” working from Istanbul to deliver «strategic communications and media operations support to the Syrian moderate armed opposition” via «Conflict and Stability Fund”.
Those “contractors” hired by British Exterior Ministry and controlled by Ministry of Defence prepare photos and videos, military analytic reports, radioprogrammes, printed materials and supervise socila media activity. All these materials are spread in Arab media scene on behalf of oppositon fighters with no reference to British experts whatsoever.
November 2014 the corresponding contract got “Innovative Communications & Strategies” company (InCoStrat) created by ex-officer of British army. It provides media- and communication support to “ moderate Syrian opposition”.
Most of the materials prepared by the hired PR professionals are daily military propaganda targeted at Syrian civilian and military audience.
This refers to successful military operations repors and evidences of the fighters’ humanitarian activity. There are even videos showing “moderate terrorists” distributing food among the civilians.
Moreover the PR campaign serves even greater military purposes. For example the footage (widely distributed in cosial networks) showing man-portable air defense missiles downing governmental helicopter should persuade everybody that the moderate opposition fighters are well armed and fight against Assad very efficiently.
It is telling that the article’s authors warn their own government from such policy underlining that lending support to various opposition factions may have ominous consequences for London as “many groups have become increasingly extremist as the five-year civil war grinds on”.
To confirm the British journalists’ words we could remember Mohammad Alloush’s words which stirred the media scene then.
Mohammad Alloush is one of the leaders of Supreme Negotiation Committee established in Saudi Arabia and representing radical organization “Jaysh al-Islam”.
It’s worth mentioning that Mohammad is cousin to Zahran Alloush, leader of “Jaysh al-Islam” who according to media was eliminated by Russian airstrike in December 2015.
In one of his interviews to Agency France Press (AFP) in spring 2016 Mohammad Alloush told that «transitional period should start with Bashar al-Assad’s fall or death” Before that in February 2016 in his interview to The Wall Street Journal he told that there is “a blood feud” between his group and the Russians.
One may only guess ordinary islamists from among the oppositional factions if top “negotiator” allows himself such manifests in public?
Still the British establishment seems not confused by such radicalism and it’s ready to spend money to create a beautiful image of “ideological fighters against Assad’s bloody regime”.
Besides when Moscow offered to put “Ahrar ash-Sham” and “Jaysh al-Islam” on UNSC sanction list on 26 April insisting on them being terrorirsts associated with ISIS and Al-Qaeda*, Great Britain, the USA, France and Ukraine vetoed this initiative.
RIA Novosti news agency quoted British diplomat who told that putting «Ahrar ash-Sham” and «Jaysh al-Islam” on UNSC sanction list would be “counterproductive for further political process in Syria”.
So it turns out to be that London is intereted in information support of islamist factions in Syria and is determined to go on with its campaign costing millions of pounds.
Western politics are to be reminded that feeding the terrorists sooner or later leads to yesterday’s “Western chicks” get out of control and tun their weapons against their former masters.
