Oh boy! They've killed the Queen! — West shocked by Russian media' reaction to Elizabeth II death report (PHOTO)
On January 10 Russian media published a series of meddages claiming Queen Elizabeth to be dead.
British Express promptly reacted with a piece titled “Russian media sent into frenzy over ‘fake news’ story claiming that the Queen has died”.
But wait a minute, was it really fake? All of the Russian outlets referred to the message published at the official web site of the British monarchy royal.uk which was titled “Death of Queen Elizabeth II” and read literally “The following statement is issued by the press secretary to the Queen. Prince Charles with the greatest sadness has asked for the following announcement to be made...”
Seems like The Express knows nothing about that for it has asked one of the Russian medie to show the screenshot which had caused “media-hysteria”.
The message was soon deleted from the Buckingham Palace’s website.
British press mentions Russia’s “Izvestiya”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, Life.ru, “Zvezda” TV channel and number of other media among those who “killed off the Queen”.
A report in “Izvestia” said: «Some netizens have suggested that the absence of a denial confirms the tragedy in the Royal family, which they have decided not to announce yet, given the necessity to carry all relevant procedures — including the secret ones».
“It comes amid controversy over Russian hacking of the US election and Western institutions and claims about «troll factories» run by a pro-Vladimir Putin oligarch to boost the Kremlin leader and denigrate the West” – reflexes the Express.
